  • Visit from Lions Club of Beachmere

At our March dinner meeting we were fortunate to be joined by a number of members from the Lions Club of Beachmere. Following our usual delicious meal we all participated in some fun and frivolity with some spuds and trivia.

The competition was fierce to build the tallest free-standing tower of spuds using just the spuds and toothpicks. Our tastebuds were tingled by a number of flavours of potato chips. Guessing the flavours was a little difficult. Who would have thought that bowling spuds could prove to be such a challenge. Dell's trivia challenge was thought provoking but caused one Lion to secretly bring out the mobile phone for answers.

    Caring for the Elderly-TeleHealth sessions

Promoting Zoom tele-health (CBT) study- it's a free service for the elderly from University of Qld.

Unfortunately, many people over 65 still seem to feel there is a stigma attached to depression and anxiety. They view themselves as weak or a character flaw rather than a genuine health condition.
Older people are also more hesitant to share their experiences of anxiety and depression with others. Often ignoring symptoms over long periods of time and only seeking professional help when things reach a crisis point.
The good news is help is available, effective treatments exist for older people. With the right treatment most older people recover.

Dr Nadeeka Dissanayaka's team are offering elderly people a free service.
Do you know anyone who needs help ?
